Seven years ago, CEPS (now spiritsEUROPE) entrusted us to conceive a CMS-based website drinksinitiatives.eu to be a complete library of all national campaigns on responsible drinking in Europe. It was meant to allow marketeers to see what is done elsewhere, a source of new ideas.

The library provides a description of each campaign with visuals, online videos, soundbits, supporting documents, etc. The visitor can download documents individually or in a zip file. Zip files are produced automatically when a marketeer uploads the files linked to each campaign. The library also contains a description of each campaign as well as results, achievements, etc.

The search function was conceived to make searches very easy. It reacts dynamically and allows to get a list of all relevant campaigns in a few seconds, using scrollable menus. This is still an impressive feature today. It was unique then.

We also spent a lot time to think about the user. Unlike most extranets, this one is filled-in by people from dozens of companies and institutions from everywhere in Europe. So we decided to create a back-office that could be used without any training, by anyone who had used, say, Word®, at least once in his/her life. The back-office includes all the information needed by a user, located next to each field. These small, dedicated texts give clear answers to any question : which formats can be uploaded, what size should be used, the purpose of each field, etc. The fact is that nobody ever asked for assistance since we launched the website.
